Kathy started with two “out-of-control” Sheltie puppies (littermates).  She found it to be a challenge raising two puppies at one time and took them both through a beginner obedience class.  From then on, she was hooked.  One of the two puppies continued on to become her first Competition Obedience dog and she has actively been training and showing dogs in Obedience since 1995.

Although showing dogs is a lot of fun, she feels that the real reward from obedience training is having a great companion and member of the family.  A dog that is under control and well behaved is a joy to take hiking or to the beach or on vacation.  She also feels that the time spent training creates an everlasting bond between her and her dogs.

In addition to training her own dogs, Kathy really enjoys working with beginner students.  She loves being able to share the experiences that she has had over the years.  It amazes her to watch the transformation that occurs from the first night of the beginner class to the last night.  She feels that even the smallest accomplishments can make a big difference in the life of a dog and the people who love them.  She encourages her students to continue on with their dogs, hoping that they too get hooked.
